LIBRARY SERVICES:

Photocopying machines: Library has two photocopiers (10 cents per page) and one color copier (25 cents per page). You may use coins or dollar bills; change is available at the desk.   Library also has a public scanner and several network computers with Microsoft Office.

Printer: Library also has a networked printer, M113a.  Jobs may be sent from anywhere on campus for pickup in the Library.

Reference: Librarians are on duty all hours that the library is open to assist users. (248) 204-3000 for assistance.

Book Renewals: Students, faculty, and staff can renew online via the "My Account" feature, or bring the books to be renewed into the library, or call (248) 204-3000. Guest users should call or bring the books in. Remember, books may be renewed only if no one else is waiting for them.

Book Returns: Drop books in the slot in the front desk, or use the book return chute in the hallway. Do not leave books on the countertop.

Guest Users: Non-students are welcome to use the library, but have limited privileges, ask at the desk for details. LTU is also a MichiCard library.

Where Materials are Located:

  • Circulating books can be checked-out, and are in the "LTU Library Stacks" shelved by the Library of Congress CALL NUMBER .
  • Periodicals are shelved alphabetically by TITLE.
  • Reserve books are kept behind the Circulation Desk.
  • Reference books are located near the Reference Desk and are for library use only.
  • Oversize books are shelved in a separate location just beyond the center magazine browsing shelves, in the first range of beige shelving stacks.
  • Kahn Library is a specialized collection.  A staff member can retrieve these materials.  All Kahn Library books are listed in the online catalog.
  • Online Books and Articles are available on campus, and from off-campus by logging in with the Banner ID.

Access to Resources Elsewhere:

  • Reciprocal Borrowing: Walk-in borrowing at Southfield Public Library and numerous local academic libraries.  Check the list of participating libraries
  • MelCat: Order books from all over Michigan and have them sent to the library’s front desk for pickup, all at no charge. 
  • MichiCard: Over 300 libraries in Michigan participate, including Detroit Public Library and Wayne State University.  Click for a list of participants.
  • Infopass: Allows book check-out at most nearby academic libraries that do not participate in Reciprocal Borrowing.
  • Interlibrary Loan: For books or journal articles not available locally.  Consult the library to place an order.
